Situated on a promontory dividing the two sandy beaches of Paignton and Preston, the Redcliffe boasts the best position on the English Riviera. It has a 400 metre water frontage, at sea level, in the very centre of the outstandingly beautiful Torbay. Sea views, from elegant Torquay on one side to the quaint fishing port of Brixham on the other, can be enjoyed from all public rooms, many of the bedrooms and from the seafront sun terrace. The Redcliffe offers 70 attractive, en-suite bedrooms, all providing a TV, WI-FI, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a telephone.
Monday From your front door to the Club Class coach as we make our way south to Paignton. Arriving late afternoon we have time to relax before dinner this evening. Entertainment is provided on some evenings throughout our stay.
Tuesday This morning we make a short drive to nearby Torquay with time to discover the charms of the English Riviera’s largest resort, en route we make a visit to Buckfast Abbey, nestled in the shadow of Dartmoor, in a beautiful wooded valley beside the river Dart, Buckfast Abbey offers visitors a tranquil refuge from everyday life. The Abbey is a working monastery where a community of Benedictine monks produce and sell their own Mead. We return to Paignton for the afternoon at leisure.
Wednesday Today’s excursion takes us to the historic maritime city of Plymouth. The city has great naval history, stretching back to the time of Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada to today’s ultra-modern navy dockyards. Explore the Hoe, see the famous Mayflower steps, visit the town centre and obtain lunch before joining the coach for the drive back to the hotel.
Thursday Our day begins with a coastal tour of Devon. Following the shore road we pass through Teignmouth and Dawlish, famous for its Black Swans, before continuing north to the cathedral city of Exeter. We take a break here and have time to explore the city before continuing along the Exe estuary to the popular resort of Exmouth. After a good stay we return to the hotel with time before dinner.
Friday After breakfast bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way home. We arrive later this afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
