Overview

The sheer beauty of the Lake District and the nearby Yorkshire Dales, without doubt two of England’s areas of outstanding natural beauty, have inspired poets and artists for centuries and the area needs little introduction. We feature a variety of days out to ensure you get the very best of the Lake District and the Dales.

Your Accommodation:

Newby Bridge Hotel - 3 Star

Less than 2 minutes' walk from Lake Windermere, Newby Bridge Hotel has a fine restaurant, swimming pool, gym and traditional bar as well as Wi-Fi. The hotel provides locally sourced food, straight from their 5 acres of grounds. The elegant rooms at Newby Bridge have an en suite bathroom, a flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach to travel north to Boroughbridge where we enter the Yorkshire Dales, calling at Ripon with its fine cathedral, then on through Wensleydale, the terraced waterfalls at Aysgarth and Sedburgh to reach the lake District and our holiday hotel.

Day 2

Tuesday After breakfast we travel to Hawkshead with its delightful cottages and cobbles, then to Ambleside with its much photographed Bridge House. Continuing on, we make our way to Keswick with its variety of shops, galleries and services which are far larger than to be expected. From here we return to the hotel for our evening meal.

Day 3

Wednesday A tour of the Yorkshire Dales takes us to the small market town of Kirby Lonsdale before we continue via Ingleton to Skipton which is also a market town that retains its farming community atmosphere. We return to the hotel via Settle, one of the most picturesque towns in Ribblesdale with its narrow streets and views of the 300ft Castleburg Crag which dominates the town.

Day 4

Thursday We visit Kendal with its castle ruins, quaint cobbled streets, antique shops, the K Village shopping outlet and the chance to purchase the famous ‘Kendal Mintcake’. We leave Kendal and make our way to Bowness on Windermere where we have an included cruise, followed by time at leisure.

Day 5

Friday We bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way home, stopping in elegant Harrogate. After a good stay we continue our journey south to arrive in our home areas after a scenic holiday near the lakes.
