Another of our firm favourites, Weymouth. The town’s fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand, and the views from the bay are spectacular, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. There is a lot to do and see, in particular the traditional old harbour and modern yachting marina are both full of colour and interest. Our excursions take us to Seaton, Hardy’s Dorchester and the Tank Museum at Bovington.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting coach for the leisurely journey south making a stop in Salisbury with its fine medieval Cathedral before continuing on to Weymouth and the comfortable Rex Hotel, arriving mid-afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Tuesday After a leisurely breakfast we enjoy a drive along the Jurassic Coast from Lyme Regis to Seaton where we may be able to ride on the famous Tramway aboard one of the narrow gauge heritage trams then on to Beer and Sidmouth for free time. This lovely seaside town nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. Enjoy beautiful Regency history and friendly shops before returning to the hotel with time to relax before dinner and an evening of musical entertainment.

Day 3

Wednesday A morning visit to Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, with its busy weekly market. Forever associated with the author Thomas Hardy we view his cottage in Bockhampton on our way to our next visit, the fascinating and amazing Tank Museum at Bovington. We return to the hotel late afternoon.

Day 4

Thursday We take a drive across the causeway to the Isle of Portland for tremendous views of the famous lighthouse and Weymouth Bay then along Chesil Beach to Abbotsbury home to the renowned Swannery. Our return includes a visit to the towering Hardy Monument for more wonderful coastal views. This afternoon is at leisure in Weymouth with time to relax before our final evening’s dinner which is followed by live entertainment.

Day 5

Friday Depart after breakfast for a leisurely journey to our home area to be met by our door to door service at the end of a relaxing holiday.
