The 3 star Buckatree Hall Hotel is a renowned comfortable country house, with its own mature gardens and private lake, offering a relaxing retreat where you can escape from the pressure of day to day life. Monday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting coach for the drive through the heart of England to make a lunch stop in Lichfield with its fine sandstone cathedral, The three spires are popularly known as ‘Ladies of the Vale’. We continue through glorious Cannock Chase to arrive at our holiday hotel, Buckatree Hall Hotel, where tea/coffee and biscuits will be served before dinner this evening.
Tuesday After breakfast we drive down the picturesque Wenlock Edge, off the beaten track towards historic Ludlow, with its castle and an endless array of listed buildings. Here we have time to obtain lunch before and explore before our return, which takes us through delightful Shropshire countryside to Bridgnorth and then to the hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.
Wednesday Today after breakfast we head to ‘where Shropshire meets Wales’, the vibrant market town of Oswestry, where you can hear Welsh and English voices mingling side by side in the recently voted “coolest place to live in England”. Today is market day, with both indoor and outdoor markets to browse. In the afternoon it is Shrewsbury that catches our attention as we see the packed timber framed black and white buildings amongst narrow alleyways surrounded by the River Severn.
Thursday After breakfast we visit the impressive Ironbridge Gorge where the world’s first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. After a break here in Ironbridge village, we make our way to Blists Hill Victorian town. This 52 acre site is a bustling recreation of a Victorian town. Buy curious products in the Chemist, Grocers and Drapers, discover what life was like for a housewife in the cottages, enjoy a drink in the New Inn, a portion of delicious fish and chips, or a bag of old fashioned sweets.
Friday After breakfast we head for home. First we travel to Cosford to visit the RAF museum, home to over 70 aircraft, warplanes and missiles. The Cold War exhibition with its interactive kiosks gives us a chance to see what life was like behind the Iron Curtain. Early afternoon we join the motorway for the cross country drive to return to our home area and waiting taxis
