Another fabulous and varied new 5 day break, taking us to a completely different coastal area in addition to exploring some interesting in land towns and cities. We are based in Hayling Island, bordered by both Chichester and Langstone harbours, and with three miles of beaches along its seafront on the Solent. We include visits to Chichester, surrounded by lovely countryside, imposing Arundel Castle and historic Portsmouth. A great value, full and varied break.
The 4 star Langstone Hotel is situated on the south coast between Portsmouth and Chichester on the northern shore of Hayling Island overlooking Langstone Water. Hotel facilities include and Leisure Club with swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym. All bedrooms are en-suite, with satellite television, movies, radio, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Although this hotel does not have a lift, ground floor rooms are available on request.
Monday Departing our homes we join the Club Class coach for the drive to Hayling Island to arrive at our hotel late afternoon. On arrival tea and coffee will be served whilst we settle in.
Tuesday This morning we make our way to Chichester with its magnificent Cathedral, Roman Walls and a medieval heart. The centre is compact with history all around, from the Tudor Market Cross to the Georgian terraces. We have time to explore and take lunch before departing to mighty Arundel Castle, seat of the Dukes of Norfolk. Built in the 11th century the castle has been restored and added to over the centuries to become the superb castle we see today, a stately home with delightful gardens.
Wednesday Today we head east following the road to Worthing, Hove and the famous resort of Brighton. Here we spend time with the oppertunity to enjoy a seafront stroll or explore the unique Lanes, a trendy area with cafes, bars and shops - an ideal spot for lunch. YWhy not visit the famous Royal Pavilion with its onion domes, or just relax and watch the world go by. Mid afternoon we return to the hotel.
ThursdayWe head west today to maritime Portsmouth. There are lots of interesting things to see and do. Visit the historic dockyard, home of ‘Victory’ and ‘Mary Rose’, wander around the Old Town and visit the lovely Cathedral as well as ‘Spice Island’, former haunt of smugglers and press gangs. A visit to Gunwharf Quays is a must, with an array of excellent shops, bars and restaurants. Here one can visit the awesome Spinaker Tower for fabulous views along the south coast.
Friday After breakfast we head home to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
