Overview

This new break takes us back in time bringing back memories of the past with lots of attractions featured at the two superb living museums, Blists Hill and the Black Country Living Museum. As well as entrance to the museums we visit the historic city of Lichfield with is magnificent cathedral.

Best Appleby Park Hotel - 4 Star

The Appleby Park Hotel is located near Tamworth and makes an ideal base for the tour. Hotel facilities include a bistro-styled restaurant, a bar and a terrace. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have a TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift that serves all floors.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to the Midlands where we arrive at the Best Western Appleby Park Hotel late afternoon. We enjoy time to settle in before dinner this evening.


Day 2

Tuesday After breakfast we head for the impressive Ironbridge Gorge where the world’s first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. Here we visit Blists Hill and the Victorian Town where we can explore the site with its many different attractions including cottages, shops and workplaces as well as see what life was like over 100 years ago. Late afternoon we return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.


Day 3

WednesdayWe start the day with a drive to the City of Litchfield. There is so much to see and do here, particularly the stunning Litchfield Cathedral, set in a remarkable and serene close. Over 800 years old, the cathedral is the third on the site and is well worth a visit. We can explore the city and obtain lunch before we leave for a drive through Cannock Chase on our way back to the hotel.


Day 4

Thursday After breakfast today we drive to the excellent Black Country Living Museum near Dudley. Electric tramcars and trolleybuses transport you back in time to this canal-side village. There are costumed demonstrations and working craftsmen bringing the museum to life with their local knowledge, practical skills and unique Black Country Humour!


Day 5

Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home. Our route takes us to Coventry with its magnificent rebuilt cathedral, where we spend time before arriving in our home area mid-afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
