This delightful new tour takes us to the magnificent Temple Newsam House and the Peak District to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. We have included time for retail therapy, relaxation and heritage in Sheffield, Leeds and the picturesque peak district towns of Bakewell and Buxton.

Tankersley Manor Hotel - 4 Star

This 4 star hotel is located close to Sheffield, on the doorstep of some of the country’s most picturesque scenery. The hotel is built around a 17th century former residence with many of the original features being retained including exposed wooden beams and Yorkshire stone windowsills. Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a bar/lounge area. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have a TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Sunday A later start this morning from your front door to join the Club Class coach. We travel north through Lincolnshire to spend some time in the county capital Lincoln, a visit to the magnificent cathedral is a must. We arrive at Tankersley Manor Hotel mid afternoon with ample time to settle in well before this evening’s dinner.

Day 2

Monday This morning we drive into the south of the Peak District National Park, enjoying the ‘Queens View‘ heading for the market town of Bakewell, home to the famous Bakewell Tart. After a short stay we make our way to the spa town of Buxton with its magnificent historic buildings. Feel free to explore the town and perhaps partake in some retail therapy. After time for lunch we drive through the pretty countryside to Castleton. Here we make a short stop before returning to the hotel, enjoying beautiful views over Ladybower Reservoir and the surrounding mountains en-route.

Day 3

Tuesday This morning we head to Temple Newsam House, a truly impressive Tudor- Jaobean mansion described as one of the best stately homes in Britain which has been beautifully restored to its former glory. On arrival we enjoy a warming tea and cake followed by time to explore the rooms, filled with fine and decorative arts, showing 500 years of history. The mansion is also famous as the birthplace of Lord Darnley, notorious husband of Mary Queen of Scots. After our time here we join the coach and head for Leeds, home to a wide variety of museums, shopping centres, restaurants and places to relax. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.

Day 4

Wednesday Our day takes us to Weston Park Museum which boasts an extensive collections in many areas including social, natural and global history. Here we discover the real story of Sheffield from its geological roots, politics and music that shaped the city. This afternoon we had into Sheffield City Centre with time to explore the array of shops and attractions before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Day 5

Thursday After a leisurely breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and had for home. Arriving in our home areas mid afternoon, we are greeted by our awaiting taxis after a delightful break in the glorious Peak District.
