Owing to the huge popularity of our previous stays, it gives us pleasure to once again offer this unique holiday to the Scilly Isles, known as the ‘Fortune Isles' or the Flower Islands. The Islands are said to have only two seasons Spring and Summer and spring flowers are often picked throughout the year! Beaches of fine sands are washed by the waters of the Gulf Stream; throughout the year the landscape is lush and green with sub tropical plants and superb displays of flowers. The islands number about 150 but only 5 are inhabited and all have a fascinating collection of fauna and flora, the islands are of particular interest to bird lovers where large colonies of sea birds, white dolphins and seals swim in the clear blue waters. All of the smaller islands have their own distinct flavour which brings back visitors year after year to these “Enchanted Isles”. Our base is St Mary’s, the largest island of the Scillies.
Based around an elegant town house, originally built by Count Leon de Ferrari and surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean gardens, St Mary’s Hall Hotel offers contemporary style and comfort blended into a traditional setting. Situated just 2 minutes from Porthcressa beach and only 5 minutes level walking from the quay, St Mary’s Hall reflects the relaxed and timeless lifestyle of the Isles of Scilly. Offering contemporary, comfortable and airy accommodation; with the added luxury of Egyptian cotton bedding, deep filled pillows and comfortable mattresses, it is the perfect base for a relaxing break. There is no lift at the St Mary’s Hall Hotel.
We depart our home area early morning and travel via the motorway network to the West Country and then across Devon into Cornwall, where we will meet our Skybus for the flight over to St. Mary’s. This is a lovely short hop over the Cornish Coast and Islands. We arrive at the St Mary’s Hall Hotel where we settle in before dinner.
(Day 2 to Day 5) One day will include a tour on St. Mary’s, with its stunning coast and fascinating inland areas including ‘Holy Vale’; the tour usually includes the Old Town and Peninnis Head. Please Note: The excursions included within our itinerary include long walks around the Islands which are mostly on the level so good walking shoes are essential. For this reason, we do not recommend this holiday for those with limited mobility. The itinerary is subject to change without prior notice due to weather conditions and Fenn Holidays cannot be held responsible for any such changes.
Sadly, it is time to leave the tranquillity of the island and return to Cornish using the Skybus flight. Upon reaching the mainland, our coach will be waiting to take us the remainder of the homeward journey. We arrive back this evening to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
* Insurance Premiums are renewed from 1st January 2024.
This holiday carries a surcharge of £130.00 per person payable with the final balance. This is imposed as, in the event of bad weather and the Skybus not being able to fly, overnight accommodation and dinner will be provided. In this eventuality every effort will be made to transfer you to the Scilly Isles as soon as possible. Of course, all being well the surcharge will not be used and the £130.00 per person will be refunded in full upon your return.
