Another extremely popular destination - The Isle of Wight is often referred to as the ‘The Garden Isle’, the wonderful scenery and attractive resorts make it the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. With most of the island designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty and half the coast awarded the title, ‘Heritage Coast’ an award given only to the finest beaches in the country. No wonder its proved to be a year upon year favourite destination with our clients.
The 3 star Channel View Hotel is in a unique location occupying an elevated cliff-top position overlooking Shanklin Bay. Hotel facilities include a restaurant, bar and an indoor swimming pool. Each en-suite bedroom has hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors.
From your front door we join the Club Class coach for the drive to Portsmouth for the crossing to the Isle of Wight. This afternoon we continue to our 3 star hotel where we have time to settle in before dinner this evening.
This morning we travel to Cowes, best known as the world's premier yachting centre and the island's main port with a natural harbour. From here we travel the short distance to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s palace by the sea. Look out for Victorian opulence, extravagant interiors and jaw-dropping Indian decor in the Durbar Room. Osborne was built as a family home and as you walk through the Queen’s bedroom, the nursery rooms and even royal bathrooms, you get an intimate glimpse into royal family life. There are acres of grounds and gardens to relax in, horse and carriage rides to take and a delightful restaurant and cafe. We return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.
This morning we head to Godshill, one of the most photographed and prettiest villages on the Island. There are plenty of cafes, pubs, tearooms and many beautiful sights, maybe visit the Model Village during our stop as well. We return to Shanklin for a free afternoon to explore the resort.
Today, we drive to the north of the island, for a nostalgic ride on the Isle of Wight Steam Train. Take a ride behind a vintage steam locomotive and breathe in the evocative aromas of a real steam railway, while your eyes and ears thrill to the puffing and hissing of the steam engine. Settle back in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages and enjoy a unique view of some of the island’s unspoilt countryside. We spend time in Ryde before returning to the hotel by way of Bembridge.
After breakfast we catch the ferry and return to England, using the motorways to arrive in our home areas to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
