Another new tour for 2021 is based in the historic city of Bristol and includes a harbour cruise with commentary, time in Bath, famous for its iconic Roman Baths and Georgian architecture, and a coastal ride on the West Somerset Railway.
Ideally located just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre, the Doubletree Hilton Hotel offers a 4 star relaxing environment. It boasts 206 modern bedrooms all equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, a TV, a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. The hotel’s restaurant is home to an original 17th century glass-blowing kiln. The hotel has a lift.
Thursday From your front door to the waiting coach for the relaxing drive to Bristol where we arrive at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel mid afternoon with ample time to settle in well before dinner.
Friday Our day begins with a ride to the beautiful Georgian City of Bath. The morning is free to explore the city, along with time for lunch. Later we make our way to lovely Bradford-on-Avon, one of the most delightful villages in Wiltshire. We take a break here and return to Bristol late afternoon.
Saturday We make our way into Bristol city centre and Harbourside. This once run-down docks area is now transformed into a world class venue with many attractions, including the S.S Great Britain, finally restored to her former Victorian Splendour. Our day is completed with a harbour cruise with interesting commentary.
Sunday To complete the weekend, we join the West Somerset Railway at Minehead. We journey by steam train along the former Great Western Railway branch line as far as Bishops Lydeard. The line hugs the coast for part of the journey and the little stations are a delight. Later we re-join the coach and return to Bristol.
Monday We bid our hosts farewell and return to our home area by way of the beautiful Cotswolds before we are greeted by our awaiting taxis.
