This relaxing tour combines the best that the south coast has to offer, from our base in Bournemouth. As the largest resort in Dorset, Bournemouth boasts seven miles of sandy beaches, beautiful parks and gardens, as well as a vast array of shops. This, combined with our visits to the historic naval city of Portsmouth and the beautiful Isle of Wight make for a lovely scenic and varied South Coast escape!
Located on the seafront and overlooking Bournemouth Bay, this hotel is unique with its resort style achieving some of the highest ratings on the South Coast. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool and spa. The hotel offers good quality and comfortable accommodation and all of its en-suite bedrooms have a TV, free WiFi, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel also has a lift.
Monday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive south to Bournemouth. Arriving late afternoon, we enjoy a tea or coffee, followed by time to settle in before dinner.
TuesdayWe begin the day with a drive to Portsmouth, the old town offers many points of interest with its beautiful Cathedral. A Spice Island haunt of smugglers and press gangs of many years ago, as well as a good selection of pubs to relax and watch the boats pass by. We visit the recent addition to Portsmouth skyline; Spinnaker Tower, offering 23 miles of spectacular views on a clear day. We have free time in Gunwharf Quays, a designer shopping outlet with seafront bars and restaurants before our return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.
Wednesday After breakfast we make our way to the ferry terminal in Lymington to join the sailing across to the lovely town of Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight. We enjoy a scenic tour around the island, taking in Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and the South Coast to Freshwater and the Needles before making our way back to Yarmouth for the crossing to Lymington. We head back to Bournemouth and our hotel for dinner this evening.
Thursday A morning visit to Poole and Compton Acres a Horticultural gem, one of the finest ornamental gardens in Britain. This afternoon we spend time at leisure in Bournemouth. Why not take a stroll along the pier and beaches or simply make use of the hotels facilities?
Friday After breakfast we depart Bournemouth and make our way home. Our route is through the New Forest then on to the motorways, we arrive in our home areas late afternoon.
