Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday Our door to door service takes you from your front door to the waiting Club Class coach. We head north to make a stop for lunch in the delightful floral spa town of Harrogate. This afternoon we continue our journey to the northeast arriving at luxurious Slaley Hall Hotel late afternoon.

Day 2

Tuesday Our first excursion takes us south via Blanchland, the Derwent Reservoir and Edmundbyers to Stanhope. Here we take a short break before heading west along Weardale to Alston. We have time for lunch before we enjoy a ride on the South Tynedale Railway. Trains leave from Alston’s restored Victorian station for a delightful ride along the beautiful South Tyne Valley. Leaving here we head across the moors to Hexham, where we take a break and have time to look around before we head back to the hotel.

Day 3

Wednesday After breakfast, Morpeth is our first destination. Today is market day where we have the chance to look around and browse the stalls. We obtain lunch before travelling across the picturesque Northumbrian countryside to Bellingham and Kielder Water. Here we enjoy a cruise around the lake before returning through Hadrian’s Wall country on the way to the hotel.

Day 4

Thursday This morning we travel to the ancient and historic City of Durham, acclaimed as a World Heritage Site and dominated by the magnificent Norman Cathedral and Castle, high above the River Wear. We have time to explore and obtain lunch before our afternoon visit to Barnard Castle – known as ‘Barny’ to the locals – and Bowes Museum, just outside the town. This is one of County Durham’s biggest surprises. Housed in a majestic French-style chateau, the Museum opened in 1892 and will amaze you with its superb collection, including the fabulous Silver Swan. Afterwards we return to Slaley Hall for our final evening’s dinner.

Day 5

Friday After a leisurely breakfast we leave and begin our journey home, arriving back in our home area late afternoon after a delightful Northumbrian break.
