A firm favourite with our clients; Torquay in Devon, the heart of the English Riviera, is a popular, stylish resort with a strong Continental atmosphere. It is situated at the heart of 22 miles of unspoilt coastline and enjoys a mild climate. By popular demand, we have returned to the Livermead Cliff Hotel, in our opinion, one of the best hotels in Torquay with simply wonderful views over the sweeping bay.
The superb Livermead Cliff enjoys an unrivalled position at the water’s edge with direct private access to the sea and has established itself as one of our favourite hotels. Hotel facilities include Oceanic Restaurant, Riviera bar, lounge and terrace with fantastic views across Torbay. All of the comfortable en-suite bedrooms are well equipped including tea/coffee making facilities, a TV, hairdryer and a lift serves all floors.
Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the cross country drive to the English Riviera, to arrive at our hotel with time to settle in before dinner.
Tuesday Our day begins with a drive to Plymouth where we sail from the historic Barbican and enjoy a cruise on the River Tamar, viewing the warships and dockyards. We have time to explore the city and obtain lunch before heading north to Okehampton, where we make our way across Dartmoor to Bovey Tracey and back to Torquay, returning to our hotel in time for this evening’s dinner.
Wednesday After breakfast we take a drive to Moretonhampstead and the House of Marbles for a coffee stop. This is a working glass and games factory making an unusual range of traditional games, puzzles, toys, marbles and glassware for many years. Why not meander round the old kilns and old pottery buildings or browse in the gift shop. From here we make our way to the coast, Teignmouth and delightful Dawlish. We spend time here with chance to explore and obtain lunch before we head back to Torquay.
Thursday Today we join the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway for a steam train ride to Kingswear, with spectacular views out to sea and over the River Dart. Here we join the ferry to Dartmouth before taking a circular hour-long cruise along the river and estuary. We have some free time in Dartmouth before re-joining the return train from Kingswear to Paignton.
Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to the hotel and make our journey home, arriving in our home area late afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis, after a memorable holiday.
