We are delighted to return to Northumberland, a magical place filled with ancient castles; hidden gardens; unspoilt beaches and a cultural heritage all of its own. From our well located 4 star hotel, we feature some interesting attractions including ‘The Lady of the North’, Tynemouth Priory and the grand Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in the heart of Northumberland’s picturesque countryside.

Gosforth Park Hotel - 4 Star

The 4 star Gosforth Park Hotel is located close to Sunderland and Newcastle, set in 18 acres of grounds. Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a gym, steam room and sauna as well as a bar and lounge area. All of the en-suite bedrooms have a TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift that serves all floors.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Northumbria. We arrive at the Holiday Inn Gosforth Park Hotel late afternoon where we are welcomed by tea or coffee and biscuits.

Day 2

Tuesday After breakfast we make our way to Tynemouth Priory with its 13th century chapel as well as WW2 gun battery. After time to explore and obtain lunch we make our way to Seaton Delaval Hall. Why not stroll around its lovely gardens or view its dramatic halls before finishing the day with a drive along the coast to Blyth Beach where we make a stop with time for a drink or an ice cream!

Day 3

WednesdayWe start with a short drive to Northumberlandia, home of ‘The Lady of the North’, a stunning human landform sculpture of a lady, scaling 100ft in height and spanning a quarter of a mile. Continuing on we make our way to Morpeth where we can visit the weekly market, obtain lunch and look around the historic town. Later this afternoon we stop at Woodhorn Museum, once a 19th century coal mine, now a museum and heritage centre. We return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 4

Thursday Today we head north via Walkworth Castle to Alnwick where we can obtain lunch and explore this historic town which is just a stone’s throw away from Alnwick Castle. We then drive to Rothbury where we have a quick stop before visiting Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens, regarded as the first British Country house to be built in new Greek revival style. After a good stay we return to the hotel for our final evening’s dinner.

Day 5

Friday Following breakfast we return to our home areas after a delightful Northumberland break.
