Introducing a new tour for 2020, offering a nice combination of coast, country and city. Featuring the picturesque villages around the coast of Fife and the historic cities of Dundee, Perth, Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh and Glamis Castle
Located in what was a jute mill a stone’s throw from the bustling centre of Dundee and the beautiful waterfront. The hotel was opened in 2018 and celebrates the city’s heritage with a modern twist. Hotel facilities include a Bar and restaurant. All bedrooms are en suite and feature a TV, hairdryer, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves the hotel.
Sunday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north through the glorious Yorkshire Dales before crossing the border to arrive in Scotland and our overnight hotel Gretna Hall, where we have time to settle in before this evening’s dinner.
Monday A leisurely Scottish breakfast before we depart Gretna travelling to Moffat in the gentle Lowther Hills stopping at the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall before driving through impressive border countryside to reach Peebles on our way to Edinburgh. We include a short tour of both the New & Old towns before time at leisure in the vibrant city. This afternoon we cross the new Forth Bridge and make our way to the Hotel Indigo in Dundee, arriving late afternoon.
Tuesday Today we head for Blairgowrie and along Strathardle to the popular town of Pitlochry where we take a break, moving on we make our way to historic Perth. The famed Black Watch Regiment was formed in Perth and their Castle and Museum is situated on the city’s most beautiful park, the North Inch. Perth has much to offer, we have a lunch break here with time to explore. Later we return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Wednesday Our destination today is the former Kingdom of Fife. Heading inland via Cupar to the coast we enjoy a lovely coastal drive through the villages of Elie, Pittenweem and Crail on the way to St Andrews, world renowned to be the home of golf. We make a lunch stop here and have chance to explore before we head back across the River Tay to Dundee.
Thursday This morning we make a visit to Glamis Castle, renowned for being Scotland’s most beautiful castle, the legendary setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth and the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. We return to Dundee with free time to explore the city in detail. Why not visit Discovery Point and board Captain Scott’s ship RRS Discovery in which he sailed to Antarctica. Or maybe visit the V & A Museum of Design, enjoy a spot of retail therapy or just sit and watch the world go by.
Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to Scotland and make our way home. We arrive in our home area early evening, to be greeted by our awaiting taxis after a memorable Scottish adventure.
