Day 1

Sunday From your front door early morning to the waiting Club Class coach for the cross country drive to Holyhead to join the Irish Ferries sailing to Dublin, enjoying the comfort of the Club Lounge. Upon arrival in Ireland we make our way to our holiday resort and the Park Hotel where a welcome tea or coffee awaits.

Day 2

Monday This morning we travel into the Wicklow Mountains and visit the ‘honeypot’ of the National Park, Glendalough. We will begin at the Visitor Centre by the Upper Lake and learn about the Monastic City before wandering around the adjacent Sensory Garden, then a visit to the Monastic City itself at the mouth of the Glendalough Valley. Dating back to the 6th Century, this area was once inhabited by monks, who lived in stone buildings, many of which still stand today. The Gateway, the Round Tower (30 metres high), the Cathedral, the Priest’s House and St Kevin’s Kitchen are some of the highlights. Then we make our way to the village of Avoca, the filming location for ‘Ballykissangel’. Returning to the hotel in time to relax before dinner.

Day 3

Tuesday Today we take the coast north to spend time in Dublin, the Irish capital. We include a tour of the principle sights among them Trinity College, O’Connell Street, Phoenix Park then offer time in the famous Guinness Storehouse (entrance not included). After time to explore the heart of the city we take a relaxing cruise to view the city from a new perspective before our return to the hotel.

Day 4

Wednesday A full day visit to the beautiful Powerscourt Estate, one of Europe’s greatest treasures gracing the Wicklow Mountains. The gardens are stunning; to the north formal tree plantations frame the vista from the house, while a walled garden, fish pond, cascades, grottos and terraces lay to the south. Walks wind through the wooded grounds and a fine tree lined avenue. We also include entrance to the house.
