A hugely successful Irish break last year, it gives us pleasure to revisit Belfast and the Titanic. 2012 saw the opening of the Titanic Belfast Experience, a world class visitor attraction to crown the ship’s centenary celebrations. This dramatic, innovative presentation tells the story of the Titanic from her conception through to her construction and launch, to her maiden voyage and tragic end. We also include tours of two great cities Dublin and Belfast and the magnificent Mountains of Mourne.
Our much acclaimed 4 star country house hotel is situated half way between Belfast and Dublin in the coastal resort of Dundalk. Set in 130 acres of beautiful parkland, this impressive Victorian House forms the heart of a family run hotel that has been transformed to provide the modern standards of today, including a comprehensive leisure centre with a swimming pool. All the en-suite bedrooms are equipped with a TV, a safe, an iron and tea/coffee making facilities. Lifts serve all floors.
Sunday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach then cross country to Wales and the port at Holyhead for the sailing to Dublin enjoying the comfort of the Club Lounge. On disembarkation we drive to our holiday hotel in Dundalk where we will enjoy our first evening’s dinner.
Monday Today is the highlight of our tour when we visit Belfast. We include a city tour then visit the ‘Titanic Quarter’ dominated by Samson & Goliath, two huge cranes from the old Harland & Wolff shipyards. We see the huge Dry Dock before making our way to the fascinating Titanic Experience with the story of the ship told through nine galleries with state of the art exhibitions. The story continues into the aftermath of the sinking through to the discovery of the wreck. Later we return to the hotel for dinner.
Tuesday A leisurely breakfast before we depart for Dublin’s fair city where we include a city tour. Included in the many sights are Trinity College, St Patricks Cathedral, O’Connell Street and then the option to visit the famed Guinness Store (admission extra) for those wishing to. Later there will be time for visiting the shops in O’Connell Street and Grafton Street and the vast number of cafes and bars, each with a special welcoming atmosphere.
Wednesday This morning we enjoy a scenic coastal drive around the magnificent granite Mountains of Mourne making a stop in the seaside resort of Newcastle before travelling through the heart of the mountains to spend time in Dundalk, a city with a long and distinguished history. Upon return to the hotel we have time to relax and explore the extensive leisure facilities before our final dinner.
Thursday An early start as we drive to Dublin where we join the morning ferry for the sailing to Holyhead, where we will enjoy breakfast on board. From North Wales we make use of the motorways to return to our home area and waiting taxis.
