Overview

A visit to the shores of beautiful turquoise coloured Achensee, the Tyrol’s largest lake, surrounded by the Karwandel and Rofan mountains. Our base for this delightful tour is the idyllic lakeside town of Pertisau with an inviting town centre and pretty lake promenade which has inspired many aristocrats and artists, it was a great favourite with the Emperor Maximillian

The luxurious family run 4 star Strandhotel enjoys a prime location on the lakeside in charming Pertisau. The hotel facilities include an indoor and outdoor pool, terrace and a comprehensive leisure centre. The rooms feature stylish wooden furnishings and all the facilities expected of a hotel of this standard, many also have balconies. There is a stylish restaurant noted for its fine food, a relaxing bar and café/bistro. Lifts serve all floors.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Saturday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the morning train a glass of champagne and snacks sets the holiday mood. On through France and the Forest of Argonne to our overnight hotel on the French/German border.


Day 2

Sunday After a buffet breakfast we continue our journey crossing the Rhine at Karlsruhe Strasbourg then on beside the Black Forest to spend time for lunch and sightseeing in historic Ulm, with its magnificent cathedral. Mid-afternoon we cross the Austrian border at Fussen and travel along the Inn Valley to arrive at our holiday hotel in Pertisau with time to settle in and enjoy a welcome drink before dinner.


Day 3

Monday A relaxing day in our resort, make use of the hotel’s excellent leisure facilities, explore pretty Pertisau or take a leisurely stroll along the lake promenade.


Day 4

Tuesday Today we enjoy a train ride on the narrow gauge rack and pinion railway down to Jenbach then a coach drive along the broad green Ziller Valley to Mayrhofen. We make a detour to the amazing glaciers at Hintertux. Weather permitting we can take a ride on a cable car up to the snow covered peaks.


Day 5

Wednesday Time for a gentle cruise on Achensee, since 1877 steamboats have connected the towns on the lake with a regular service. We travel to the north end of the lake and join the coach for the drive to the Inn Valley and the pretty town of Rattenberg, the smallest in the Tyrol with colourful houses built on the banks of the River Inn, it is also home to the world famous Swarovski Crystal where we spend some time.


Day 6

Thursday We take the road to Germany for a visit to the largest lake in Bavaria, Chiemsee. Here we include a boat ride to the wonderful island palace of Herrenchiemsee, created by the famous Bavarian ruler, ‘Mad King Ludwig’. Modelled on the Palace of Versailles highlights include the ornately decorated State Staircase, the State Bedroom and the Great Hall of Mirrors. Outside, the magnificent gardens are a replica of those in Paris with lakes, fountains and brilliant floral displays. A place that delights all.


Day 7

Friday A full day excursion to the majestic Kitzbuhler Alps. We spend time in St Johann in Tyrol then Zell am See where we include a circular tour of the beautiful lake itself and time to discover the maze of narrow streets in Zell. Our return is over the Thurn Pass to Kitzbuhl before arriving back at the hotel in time for our Gala Menu dinner.


Day 8

SaturdayWe bid farewell to our hosts and make for Germany and Munich on through Bavaria and the Rhineland to reach our overnight hotel, arriving late afternoon.


Day 9

Sunday After a fine buffet breakfast we depart for our drive through France and on to the coast and Calais for our afternoon train back to Folkestone. We return to our home area and waiting taxis early evening.
