Overview

One of our most popular destinations, the Tyrol is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Landers of Austria, renowned for its majestic mountain peaks, picturesque valleys and lush green meadows, along with picture postcard villages. Our tour is based in the charming little village of Kirchberg, an ideal location, well positioned in the heart of the Kitzbuhler Alps. We include rides on two narrow gauge trains, a visit to the mighty Grossglockner and a visit to beautiful Zell am See.

Hotel Zentral - 4 Star

The superb family run 4 star Zentral is located in the centre of Kirchberg as its name suggests; the hotel is renowned for its warm welcome and comfort, recent extensions have made it even better!! Each of the ensuite bedrooms is equipped with a telephone, satellite TV, a safety-box and a hair dryer. Most rooms have a balcony and many have views of the surrounding mountains. Other facilities at the hotel include a sun terrace, restaurant, bar, games room and a comprehensive wellness area. The hotel is served by two lifts. We include an ‘All Inclusive’ drinks package and daily take away packed lunch or light lunch in the hotel.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Saturday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid-morning train a glass of champagne and snacks sets the holiday mood. On through Belgium to Germany and our overnight hotel.


Day 2

Sunday A fine buffet breakfast before departing for Austria. Travelling through Germany we cross the Rhine at Karlsruhe and pass Stuttgart and Munich. Ahead we see the Alps and after crossing the border near the Wild Kaiser Mountains we reach Kirchberg and our holiday hotel at teatime.


Day 3

Monday A restful day in our resort, make use of the hotels excellent leisure facilities and partake in the inclusive drinks arrangements or enjoy a ride on the nearby cable car.


Day 4

Tuesday A day of natural wonder that takes us first over the Thurn Pass to the beautiful lake at Zell am Zee where we spend time to explore the narrow streets of the old market town. We then board the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn for a scenic journey trundling through the Pinzgau Valley passing magnificent mountains en-route to Krimml and Europe’s highest waterfall at Krimml. Water cascades over 3 stages and falls more than 1200ft.


Day 5

Wednesday The scenic highlight of our tour, as we take the spectacular Grossglockner road. This magnificently engineered highway runs from nearby Bruck to Heiligenblut and offers us views over mountain peaks and glaciers, a truly memorable journey, climbing to a height of over 8,000 feet we reach the base of Austria’s highest mountain – the Grossglockner at 12,460ft.The awesome Pasterze glacier spreads out before us.


Day 6

Thursday Our next train ride as we make for Jenbach in the Inn Valley and join the Achenseebahn, Europe’s oldest cog railway, still steam operated. Puffing through steep sections we climb out of the valley to Seespitz where we re-join our coach for the short drive to Pertisau a pretty village on the shores of Lake Achen. Our return takes us to the Tyrol’s smallest town, colourful Rattenberg and a visit to Kisslinger Kristal glass blowing factory.


Day 7

Friday A morning visit to the world famous resort of Kitzbuhl. This picturesque old world town, nestling between the Kitzbuhler Horn and the Hahnenkamm, has a delightful pedestrianised centre with a wealth of cafes and interesting shops, perfect for last minute souvenirs. We return to the hotel for an included lunch and relaxing afternoon.


Day 8

SaturdayWe leave Kirchberg for our homeward journey. Through Bavaria possibly making a stop in Ulm, home of the world’s tallest cathedral, built on the banks of the River Danube. Then by way of the Black Forest to reach our overnight hotel in Germany.


Day 9

Sunday After a fine buffet breakfast we depart for Brussels then Calais for the late afternoon shuttle to Folkestone. We return to our home area and waiting taxis arriving early evening.
