For 2020 a return visit to the coast of Normandy, renowned for its elegant resorts, historic cities and beaches all of which have long associations with Britain, from William the Conqueror through to the D-Day Landings. On this tour we will visit one of the most beautiful castles in Normandy, Chateau de Vendeuvre, where we will get a chance to see its annual tulip festival, and enjoy a special dinner in the Chateau.
The modern 3 star Hotel Mercure is located on the outskirts of the charming town of Lisieux and has proved popular with our clients on previous visits. The en-suite bedrooms are decorated in a cosy style with cable TV, hairdryer, and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a bar and restaurant located on the ground floor and lifts serve all floors, a charming hotel.
Friday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the morning train a glass of champagne and snacks set the holiday mood. On arrival in France we make use of the impressive coastal motorway to drive south arriving at our holiday hotel late afternoon, where there will be a welcome drink before time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday A leisurely start this morning as we head to Chateau de Vendeuvre to see the highlight of our tour, the annual tulip festival. The magnificent gardens are filled with a breathtakingly colourful display of more than 30,000 flowers, including Narcissi, Grape Hyacinths and of course a copious selection of tulips. We include a guided tour of the Private Gardens and end the day with a 4 course Normandy menu dinner in the historic Chateau.
Sunday A drive along the ‘Coast of Flowers’ renowned for its fine sandy beaches. We visit the fashionable resorts of Deauville and Trouville each with their own casinos and grand gardens, then Honfleur, the old port with its attractive streets lined by tall timber houses. We return to our hotel with time to relax before dinner.
Monday Departing after breakfast we make for Calais, via the coastal motorway, and board our afternoon train back to the UK. We return to our home area early evening after an enjoyable French jaunt.
