The pretty little village of Llanberis is a bustling holiday centre with plenty of little shops and eateries. It is home to the Electric Mountain, the Welsh Slate Museum, Snowdon Mountain Railway and Llanberis Lake Railway. We include visits to some of Wales’ famous Castles and a House Party entertainment programme on this great value spring break. A free bar is available each evening during 19:00 – 23:00
The 3 star Legacy Royal Victoria enjoys a breath-taking location on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, cradled between the lakes Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and the Welsh mountains. Monday From your front door to the waiting coach, we make our way through the heart of England to Shrewsbury for a lunch stop. Refreshed, we continue to the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and follow the River Dee to enter Snowdonia at Capul Curig, arriving at our hotel late afternoon. We enjoy a welcome tea or coffee whilst our bags are taken to rooms. This evening entertainment precedes dinner.
Tuesday This morning we collect our packed lunches and visit the fascinating National Slate Museum, which is sited in the Victorian workshops built in the shadow of the Elidir Moutain, site of the vast Dinorwig Quarry. Here we are able to travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiseled itself into the very being of this country. The Workshops and Buildings are designed as though quarrymen and engineers have just put down their tools and left the courtyard for home. Later we include a guided tour of Dolbadarn Castle regarded as one of the finest remaining of the Welsh castles, a memorial to Llewelyn the Great. We return to the hotel for dinner which is followed by entertainment.
Wednesday Today we enjoy a full day tour of the spectacular Snowdonia National Park, via Swallow Falls at Betws-y-Coed, Blaenau Ffestiniog with its slate railway, then to the coast and the small seaside resort and town of Harlech. We include entrance to the stunning Harlech Castle which seems to grow naturally from the rock on which it is perched gazing out across land and sea, keeping a watchful eye over Snowdonia. Our return is by way of Beddgelert and its legend of Llewellyn’s faithful dog. We return to the hotel for dinner and entertainment
Thursday After breakfast and packed lunches in tow, we visit the old town of Caernarfon with its magnificent castle, scene of the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. We include admission to the Castle and Walls and make a good stay before driving to the pretty Isle of Anglesey. After, we make our way to Beaumaris Castle - the great unfinished masterpiece.It is nonetheless an awesome sight, one of the great Edwardian castles in Wales. Our farewell dinner takes the form of a 5 course Welsh themed Gala affair.
Friday After a leisurely breakfast we begin our homeward journey. Our route is by way of Colwyn Bay and the historical city of Chester, where we spend some time before joining the motorway back to our home area, arriving early evening.
