Enjoy the comfort of a luxurious and elegant pre-Christmas break. Once again, we return to Chatsworth to view the magnificent Chatsworth House, which has been decorated for Christmas. We also include a full day in the fascinating city of Liverpool. This great value pre-Christmas break is not to be missed!
The 4 star Shrigley Hall Hotel is set in 262 acres of spectacular Cheshire countryside that provides a stunning setting for this 19th century country house. An impressive lobby with large staircase and imposing chandelier greets us. A beautiful restaurant with views over the grounds and a modern conservatory courtyard bar add to the luxury feel. All bedrooms are individually decorated with amenities including TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Comprehensive leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa bath and steam room. A lift serves all floors.
Sunday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for our journey north. We spend time in delightful Ashbourne at the foot of Dove Dale then on to Macclesfield and at our holiday home for the next 4 nights, we have ample time to settle in before dinner this evening.
Monday Today we visit Bakewell, home of the famous ‘tart’ or pudding to use its proper name. Why not explore the delightful town and partake in one of its sweet treats before re-joining the coach. We continue to the former spa town of Buxton with its wealth of shops and lovely public gardens for more time at leisure. We return to the hotel for dinner this evening.
Tuesday After breakfast we head for Chatsworth House, delightfully decorated for Christmas. We enjoy an included visit to the house and have plenty of time to visit the shop, stocked with many seasonal gifts. Our visit coincides with the annual Christmas Market with over 100 stalls offering a wide range of gifts and decorations, rafts, homeware and seasonal produce.
Wednesday Our final excursion takes us to Merseyside and Liverpool. Liverpool is home of the Beatles and the Beatles Story Exhibition, which is well worth a visit. The city has more Georgian architecture than any other city in the UK, as well as a world famous waterfront with the highest concentration of listed city buildings and monuments outside London. The city also boasts three Christmas Markets, one of which, at the Pier Head, also has an ice festival.
Thursday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home. We stop at Lichfield for lunch before continuing to our home areas mid-afternoon, after an enjoyable pre-Christmas break.
