In addition to enjoying the markets in Drachenburg Castle, we also visit the wonderful cities of Cologne and Bonn.

Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone. Boarding the train a glass of fizz and snacks set the holiday mood. On through Belgium, past Bruges and Brussels to reach Konigswinter and our hotel. We arrive late afternoon to a welcoming drink with time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday Today we visit the charming city of Cologne, home to no less than 7 Christmas markets, of which the most famous is in front of the impressive Cathedral which provides a great backdrop. This decorative German city has a classic, Christmassy atmosphere oozing with charm. From the elaborate illuminations to the marvellous decorations, you are sure to feel festive. Experience the stunning Cologne Christmas markets, indulge in hearty cuisine and gaze at the ornate stonework of this spectacularly beautiful place. As we wander through the city the aroma of baked apples, cinnamon biscuits and mulled wine waft through the alleys.
Sunday After breakfast, we board the famous Drachenfelsbahn cogwheel railway for the short distance to Drachenburg Castle. This small Christmas market set in the grounds of this beautiful fairytale castle, is sure to put us in the festive mood. Storytellers and actors pull visitors back into the era with a live play of Charles Dicken’s Christmas Carol and exhibitors offer their handmade products and culinary treats. Soak up the unique magical atmosphere while browsing for souvenirs and gifts, sample local foods and warm up with mulled wine or a hot chocolate. This afternoon we travel to Bonn to continue the festivities. During advent, the city of Bonn transforms its town hall into a giant advent calendar, illuminating a new window each day. Shop at Munsterplatz, Bottlerplatz Windeckstrasse, Friedensplatz and Vivatsgasse, where you will find everything from ingredients for special recipes to various art and craft items.
Monday We depart Konigswinter soon after breakfast and retrace our route past Belgium. We continue to Calais for the afternoon train to Folkestone arriving in our home area mid evening after a memorable festive break.
