Overview

A great festive break as we steam into the festive season through Lancashire’s very own winter wonderland. We include a ‘Dining with Distinction’ Festive lunch and steam train ride on the East Lancs Railway. Another excursion is a drive through the fabulous Blackpool Illuminations.

Hallmark Hotel Preston Leyland - 4 Star

The 4 star Preston Leyland Hotel has many unique touches, such as work by local artists and its modern Four Seasons restaurant. Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The hotel has 93 en-suite bedrooms which all have a telephone, TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The bar and lounge area offer ample seating. Although the hotel does not have a lift, there are ground floor rooms available on request.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north. We spend time in Holmfirth setting for the BBC’s long running serial ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ then take a drive over rugged Saddleworth Moor. Our arrival at our 4 star hotel is late afternoon where we enjoy a welcome tea or coffee with time to settle in before this evening’s dinner.


Day 2

Tuesday A relaxing morning at the hotel before an included lunch. This afternoon we depart for the drive to nearby Blackpool and a drive through the magnificent Illuminations known as a Festival of Light and extended this year for 2 months to assist Blackpool tourism recover from the problems of this year. We return to the hotel late evening.


Day 3

Wednesday A leisurely breakfast before departing for Bury and the East Lancashire Railway for our ‘Dining with Distinction’ Lunch aboard a Pullman style steam train. A glass of sparkling wine is served before we settle down for a 2½ hour ride through the Irwell valley whilst enjoying a traditional three course Christmas lunch followed by tea or coffee and homemade mince pies. This evening back at the hotel we have a mulled wine reception and light buffet.


Day 4

Thursday After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way home. Our route is over the splendid Cat and Fiddle Pass and through the beautiful Peak to spend time in popular Bakewell. We arrive in our home area later this afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
