Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting coach then on through the heart of England to Shrewsbury for a lunch stop. This afternoon we continue to the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and follow the River Dee to enter Snowdonia at Capel Curig arriving at our hotel late afternoon. We have time to settle into our rooms before dinner this evening.

Day 2

Tuesday This morning we include a visit to the fascinating National Slate Museum. Situated under towering slate mountains in the Victorian engineering workshops of Dinorwig Slate Quarry, this living working museum tells the story of North Wales’s slate industry. Here we are able to travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiseled itself into the very being of this country. The Workshops and Buildings are designed as though quarrymen and engineers have just put down their tools and left the courtyard for home. Later we include a guided tour of Dolbadarn Castle regarded as one of the finest remaining of the Welsh castles, a memorial to Llewelyn the Great. Dinner this evening will be followed by an interesting slide show and singing by Welsh Vocalists.

Day 3

Wednesday A full day tour of the spectacular Snowdonia National Park, via Swallow Falls at Betws-y-Coed, Blaenau Ffestiniog with its slate railway, then to the coast and the small seaside resort and town of Harlech. We include entrance to the spectacularly sited Harlech Castle which seems to grow naturally from the rock on which it is perched gazing out across land and sea, keeping a watchful eye over Snowdonia. Our return is by way of Beddgelert and its legend of Llewellyn’s faithful dog. A male vocalist provides entertainment this evening.

Day 4

Thursday Today we visit the old town of Caernarfon with its magnificent castle, scene of the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. We include admission to the Castle and Walls and make a good stay before driving to the pretty Isle of Anglesey. We visit Beaumaris Castle the great unfinished masterpiece. It is nonetheless an awesome sight, one of the great Edwardian castles in Wales. Our farewell dinner takes the form of a 5 course Welsh themed Gala affair.

Day 5

Friday After a leisurely breakfast we begin our homeward journey. Our route is by way of Colwyn Bay and the historical city of Chester, where we spend some time before joining the motorway back to our home area, arriving early evening.
