Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Cornwall. We reach our hotel, the 3 star Portbyhan Hotel, where there is tea and coffee on arrival followed by plenty of time to settle in before dinner is served.

Day 2

Tuesday After a fine breakfast we travel to the county capital of Cornwall, Truro, where we spend some time before following the River Fal to our first garden visit, the National Trust property at Trelissick. This tranquil varied garden enjoys a fabulous setting on its own peninsula overlooking the Fal Estuary and offers a superb collection of tender and exotic plants. In addition to the floral attractions the estate has refreshment facilities and agift shop.

Day 3

Wednesday A full day excursion to the unspoilt Roseland Peninsula. Our first visit is Mevagissey, a delightful and unspoilt fishing village on the South Coast of Cornwall. We then travel to St. Mawes, a picturesque waterside fishing village offering sandy beaches, boating, fishing, walks, plenty of small shops, pubs and restaurants, all of which nestle around the harbour. Our next visit, St. Just, is one of the jewels of Cornwall. After a good stay we return to Looe with time before dinner.

Day 4

Thursday A leisurely breakfast before we drive to the Georgian village & harbour of Charlestown, the setting for the TV programmes Poldark and The Onedin Line. After a short stay we visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan one of the most mysterious and romantic estates in England. Lost for decades it has now been lovingly restored to its former glory, a labour of love that continues to this day. Over 200 acres ranging from the jungle to formal gardens are a paradise for the explorer, the plant lover and keen gardener.

Day 5

Friday Time to head for home. Departing after breakfast we retrace the route of our outward journey to arrive back in our home areas late afternoon after an enjoyable West Country break.
