Metropole Hotel - 4 Star

Located in the historic spa town of Llandrindod Wells, in the ‘Heart of Wales’ this beautiful town with its Victorian canopied streets make the perfect base for this tour. Hotel facilities include a spacious lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, steam room, whirlpool and a gym. All of the en-suite bedrooms have TV, telephone, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has 2 lifts which serve all floors.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Monday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the leisurely drive to South Wales. Travelling by way of the Midlands we reach Swansea and our overnight hotel late afternoon for a welcoming cup of tea or coffee and time to settle in well before dinner.


Day 2

Tuesday After an early breakfast we make our way to Swansea station to catch the ‘Heart of Wales’ line to Llandrindod Wells. Recognised as one of the most scenic railways in the country. Our coach meets us at Llandrindod Wells and we spend the afternoon at Abbey-Cwm-Hir for a guided tour. Later we check into our holiday home for the next 3 nights, The Metropole Hotel & Spa.


Day 3

Wednesday Today we enjoy a day at leisure strolling around this popular Victorian Spa resort. Why not indulge in the leisure facilities and Spa at our hotel, the highest rated hotel in mid Wales.


Day 4

Thursday This morning we travel west to Aberystwyth for a return journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway. We travel along the former Great Western line to Devil’s Bridge, during which our narrow gauge steam locomotive climbs 700ft through some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales. Our return allows us free time in the popular seaside town of Aberystwyth where we can also explore Britain’s longest electric cliff railway.


Day 5

Friday This morning we depart the Metropole Hotel & Spa and first visit the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, set in a fantastic location against a spectacular backdrop of a Victorian stone dam. Afterwards we head back to Llandrindod Wells to catch the final leg of our journey on the ‘Heart of Wales’ line to Shrewsbury. From the beautiful countryside around Pen-y-Bont, crossing the impressing Knucklas Viaduct and onto our final destination in Shrewsbury. On arrival we are met by our coach and taken to our hotel for the next 2 nights, The Mercure Telford Centre.


Day 6

Saturday This morning we travel to the Shropshire Hills to visit the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm. In the afternoon we enjoy a return journey from Bridgenorth to Bewdley on the vintage steam-hauled Severn Valley Railway.


Day 7

Sunday After breakfast we leave Wales and head for home. Late afternoon we arrive in our home areas where we are greeted by our awaiting taxis.
