Due to popular demand, it gives us pleasure to return to the unspoilt beauty of County Antrim a gem on Irelands north east coast. Our tour explores the breathtaking coastline, visits the magical Giants Causeway, and offers a taste of Ireland at Bushmills Distillery plus a ride on a train described as one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys. Our base is Coleraine, perfect for discovering the many natural and historic wonders. We include overnight stop in Lancashire.
Ideally situated on the edge of Coleraine, the family run Lodge Hotel offers the personal touch. All of the en-suite bedrooms are comfortable and traditional in style and with tea/coffee making facilities. Public rooms include a bar, restaurants and lounge. The hotel has a lift.
Sunday Our door to door service takes you to the Club Class coach for the drive north through the lovely Peak District, arriving at our overnight hotel late afternoon.
Monday A relaxing drive past the Lake District and through Dumfries and Galloway, along the beautiful Solway coast to the ferry port at Stranraer for the early afternoon ferry crossing to Northern Ireland’s capital city, Belfast. We reach our hotel on the Antrim coast late afternoon.
Tuesday This morning we enjoy a train journey described by Michael Palin as being one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. En-route from Coleraine to Londonderry the track runs alongside one of the sands of one of the most unspoilt beaches in Ireland whilst on the other side of the track, we pass the cliffs of Downhill and the impressive Binevenagh Mountains. On arrival in the historic city of Londonderry, we enjoy a guided tour followed by time at leisure before returning to our hotel for dinner this evening.
Wednesday We experience stunning scenery this morning as we drive along the coast to make a tour and ‘tasting’ at Bushmills Distillery, the oldest in Ireland Then on to the spectacular Giants Causeway, with time in the Visitors Centre to investigate the legend of Finn MacCool before taking a minibus down to the Causeway itself. We include time in Portrush before our return to the hotel.
Thursday A morning visit to one of Northern Island’s oldest and most beautiful estates, Glenarm Castle. We explore the beautiful walled garden in its incomparable setting by the sea. This afternoon we enjoy the magnificent Glens of Antrim. Our return to the hotel takes us to Glengariff with its towering hills cliffs and waterfalls, Cushendall, a picturesque village with bright coloured houses, then on to the stupendous cliffs at Fair Head before seeing the popular resort of Ballycastle. Seen over the Sound are Rathlin Island and the Mull of Kintyre.
Friday A leisurely breakfast before we drive to Belfast for the midday ferry to Stranraer. From here we travel to our overnight hotel, with time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday A leisurely breakfast before setting off for our drive home. We travel by way of the Midlands to arrive in or home area mid afternoon at the end of a memorable holiday amidst Ireland’s finest scenery.
