From our base near Stourport, we have an excellent selection of excursions with something for all, including a visit to Stokesay Castle, a working Victorian farm, safari park and a RAF Aerospace Museum. There is plenty to see and do on this 5 day break!
This charming 4 star country house hotel is set in 23 acres of beautiful grounds and was formerly the home of Prime Minister Sir Stanley Baldwin. Hotel facilities include a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa. All bedrooms are en-suite and tastefully decorated with a television, telephone, free WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities.
Sunday Departing our home areas, we make our way to Worcestershire. We reach the Stourport Manor Hotel late afternoon, where we are greeted by a welcoming cup of tea or coffee before time to settle in and dinner.
Monday This morning we head north to the Coalport China Museum, housing the exquisite collections of Coalport and Caughley China. Be amazed by the spectacular treasures made in this quirky building. The museum is located in the magnificent listed buildings that were home to the factory until 1926. From here we make our way to the Aerospace Museum at RAF Cosford. This exhibition has 70 aircraft dating back to wartime, memorabilia over the years and the National Cold War exhibition gives an insight into life behind the Iron Curtain. Later we return to the hotel for dinner.
Tuesday A morning visit to discover the delights of Worcester, with the scenic River Severn flowing through the city, with time for lunch. This afternoon we drive along the delightful Severn Valley, as we make our way to Bewdley, described as the most perfect small Georgian town in Worcestershire. We visit the West Midlands Safari Park, home to some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered exotic animal species. We enjoy tea/coffee and cakes before embarking on a Safari Drive with a knowledgeable park guide. The highlight of our week!
Wednesday After breakfast, we take a ride north to Stokesay Castle. The castle is a survivor of 700 years of border and civil wars and is known as the ‘best fortified manor house’ in Britain. From here we make for the little village of Acton Scott, where we visit the Historic Working Farm, conceived to keep 19th century farming practices alive offering a great insight into life on a Victorian country estate. Leaving here, we have a pleasant drive along Wenlock Edge to take a break in Much Wenlock before returning to the hotel.
Thursday This morning we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home after a relaxing break in Worcestershire.
