For 2021 we are delighted to travel to Arundel, where we explore some interesting in land cities and towns. We are based on Hayling Island, bordered by both Chichester and Langstone harbours, and has three miles of beaches along its seafront on the Solent. We include visits to Chichester, surrounded by lovely countryside, imposing Arundel Castle and historic Portsmouth. A great value, full and varied break.
The 4 star Langstone Hotel is situated on the south coast between Portsmouth and Chichester on the northern shore of Hayling Island, overlooking Langstone Water. Hotel facilities include a leisure club with swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and a gym. All of the bedrooms are en-suite, with satellite television, a telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Although this hotel does not have a lift, some ground floor rooms are available on request.
Thursday Departing our home areas we join the Club Class coach for the drive to Hayling Island where we arrive at our hotel late afternoon. On arrival tea and coffee will be served whilst our bags are taken to our rooms.
Friday This morning we make our way to Chichester with its magnificent Cathedral, Roman Walls and medieval heart. The centre is compact with history all around, from the Tudor Market Cross to the Georgian terraces. We have time to explore and obtain lunch before we are on our way this afternoon to mighty Arundel Castle, seat of the Dukes of Norfolk. Built in the 11th century, the castle has been restored and added too over the centuries to become the superb castle we see today. We have time to explore before returning to the hotel with time before dinner.
Saturday Today we head east following the road to Worthing, Hove and the famous resort of Brighton. Here we have time for exploration and lunch. Why not enjoy a seafront stroll, explore the unique Lanes, trendy café area or bars and shops. You may fancy a visit to the famous Royal Pavilion with its onion domes, or just relax and watch the world go by. Mid afternoon we return to the hotel with time before this evening’s dinner.
Sunday We head west today to maritime Portsmouth. There is lots of interesting things to see and do. Perhaps visit the historic dockyard, home of ‘Victory’ and ‘Mary Rose’, wander around the Old Town and visit the lovely Cathedral as well as Spice Island, former haunt of smugglers and press gangs. A visit to Gunwharf Quays is a must, with an array of excellent shops, bars and restaurants. We include a ride on the awesome Spinnaker Tower for fabulous views along the south coast.
Monday After breakfast we head home to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
