Upon arrival we enjoy a welcome tea/coffee and biscuits whilst our luggage is taken to our rooms, which is followed by time to relax before dinner.

Day 2

Friday We start the day with a drive south to the city of Lichfield. There are many things to see and do here including the magnificent Lichfield Cathedral, which is set in a remarkable and serene close. After time here for exploration and lunch we make our way to the stunning Shugborough Estate, former home of the late Lord Patrick Lichfield. Set on the banks of the River Sow, the magnificent 17th century mansion offers much to see.

Re-joining the coach, we make our way to Matlock where we stop for lunch. This afternoon we join the Midland Railway, in Butterley, bringing back memories of the old London Midland and Scottish Railway.
