One of our long established, firm favourites! Spectacular Alpine scenery, genuine and warm hospitality at a crossroads, where history and culture blend hand-in-hand have made the Austrian Tyrol one of the most attractive destinations in the world. St Anton is a popular Tyrolean resort set amidst gentle wooded slopes against the beautiful backdrop of the majestic Arlberg Mountains. There are shops, cafes and a network of cable cars and chair lifts providing easy access to the surrounding peaks.
The 4 star Arlberg, under the personal supervision of its resident proprietors the Ennemoser family, has been affording a warm welcome to our groups for 35 years and in our opinion is one of the best hotels in St. Anton. All rooms have private facilities, hairdryer, TV and radio. The hotel has comfortable spacious lounges, bar and restaurants. We offer a four course dinner with salad bar and of course a buffet breakfast. To help you relax there is a leisure facility complete with indoor pool, sauna and solarium and free use of bicycles. A lift serves all floors.
Saturday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid morning train a glass of fizz and snacks set the holiday mood. On through France to our overnight hotel located on the French/German border.
Sunday Over the Vosges Mountains and through the lovely Alsace region to Strasbourg where we cross the mighty Rhine. We enjoy a relaxing drive through the scenic Black Forest to spend time in the delightful lakeside town of Titisee. This afternoon we drive along the shores of Lake Constance to reach Austria and St Anton and the Hotel Arlberg late afternoon.
Monday A free day to explore St Anton. Make use of the Guest Summer Card which allows a complimentary return ride on a cable car plus other benefits, explore the town or make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities.
Tuesday A three pass tour to the shores of Lake Constance. We cross the Arlberg and Flexen Passes to tiny Lech then over the Hochtannberg mountain pass to the city of Bregenz found on the shores of the lake. Here we board a steamer for a short cruise to the delightful island of Lindau noted for its flower displays and rich murals on the old buildings. After a good stay we return to our hotel late afternoon.
Wednesday A drive along the broad Inn Valley to Mosern and the ‘Peace Bell’ before spending time in Seefeld a year round resort with a fine pedestrianised centre. Later we include a tour one of the great Baroque treasures of Austria, Stams Abbey. The interior of the church is truly magnificent with beautiful ceiling frescos, stucco work, and amazing wrought-iron screens.
Thursday Mountain scenery at its best today with our visit to the Kaunertal and its fabulous glacier road climbing past a beautiful reservoir then via a series of hairpin bends to over 9000ft above sea level where year round skiing takes place. At the top it’s possible to take a chair lift offering unrivalled views of the snow capped mountains and glaciers. Later we spend time in busy Landeck on the River Inn.
Friday A morning visit to visit the former capital of the neighbouring state, the Vorarlberg and the historic small town of Feldkirch, explore the arcaded Market square and the noted Schattenberg Castle. We return to St Anton for an afternoon at leisure.
Saturday We leave St Anton and make our way through Lichtenstein, travelling beside Lake Zurich in Switzerland to reach France and the Alsace. We spend time for lunch in one of the beautiful wine producing villages before crossing the Vosges Mountains and return to our overnight hotel.
Sunday After breakfast we continue our homeward journey through the Forest of Argonne, heading for the wonderful champagne and cathedral city of Reims. Later we continue our drive to Calais for the afternoon shuttle to Folkestone. We arrive in our home area early evening.
