Each year the historic city of York celebrates its Viking heritage with a wonderful festival as hundreds of Vikings from all over the world descend on the city for the week-long programme of events, including a magnificent Viking wedding re-enactment and musical celebrations, authentic combat displays and performances; Viking feasting, and award winning musicians. Our tour includes ample time in the historic city to enjoy the festival and a tour of the scenic North York Moors National Park

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Tuesday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the leisurely drive to York. We make a coffee stop in Lincoln, then over the magnificent Humber Bridge to Beverly with its impressive Minster before arriving in York mid-afternoon. We enjoy time to settle in and relax before dinner which includes a glass of wine

Day 2

Wednesday After breakfast we enjoy a full day discovering York. The Viking Festival has a whole series of events and re-enactments taking place in the city throughout the day. In addition, York has much to offer the visitor including the cobbled streets of the Shambles, the magnificent Minster and a host of museums including the National railway Museum, the Castle Museum and the new Chocolate Story. Delve into York’s heritage, discover hidden attractions off the beaten track, enjoy a snack or wander in and out of the independent shops – the choice is yours! After a day of exploration we return to the hotel for dinner followed by a Quiz

Day 3

Thursday Today we include a scenic drive through the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors. We visit the picturesque towns of Malton and Helmsley, then drive along pretty Bilsdale, set in the Cleveland hills, before descending steep Sutton bank to Thirsk, former residence of Alf Wight writer of the James Herriot books. Back at the hotel we enjoy a pre-dinner Happy Hour

Day 4

Friday A leisurely morning to explore more of the famed city of York and time to take lunch. Early afternoon we commence the return journey to our home area and waiting taxis, arriving late afternoon
