Renowned as one of our more stylish resorts, Bournemouth boasts spectacular coastal views including the secret Chines which were used by smugglers to conceal their beauty in days gone by; it is clean, fresh and sophisticated, yet remains quite unspoilt in spite of its popularity. We include a visit to the wonderful Compton Acres, the New Forest.
We return once again to the 3 star Marsham Court Hotel, situated on the East Cliff with magnificent views yet centrally located a few minutes’ walk from the pier. Many of the en-suite bedrooms have sea view and balcony, and all have satellite T.V., telephone, radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors. The hotel also offers a restaurant and a bar and lounge that opens on to a terrace overlooking the sea. For the energetic there is an outdoor swimming pool and games room, entertainment is offered some evenings during our stay.
Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the leisurely journey to the South Coast arriving at the Marsham Court Hotel mid afternoon for tea & biscuits with time to explore or simply settle in and relax before dinner is served.
Tuesday Our first visit of the day is Romsey, the setting of TV’s ‘Inspector Wexford’ programmes. After spending time here we continue on the Winchester, the ancient Saxon Capital of England and lovely place to spend time with its busy little centre, full of olde worlde character.
Wednesday A morning visit to Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, with its busy weekly market. The afternoon is spent at Compton Acres, voted one of the finest gardens in Europe taking its visitor on a fascinating journey through the gardens of the world. It is of late Victorian mixed style design with seven distinct gardens to wander around and enjoy. We return to Bournemouth by way of Poole with its lovely natural harbour.
Thursday A scenic drive through the delightful New Forest we view the charming thatched cottages of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst before spending time in historic Salisbury, known as ‘The City in the Countryside’ and famous for its Cathedral Spire.
Friday We depart our hotel after breakfast for the homeward journey, arriving in our home area mid afternoon. after a delightful Spring break
