Once again, it gives us pleasure to offer our hugely popular Isle of Man holiday. The Isle of Man is an ancient Viking Kingdom which has never been part of the U.K and who’s well known three legged emblem originates from a symbol used on 10th century coins. Our chosen resort is Douglas with a Victorian seafront and long promenades where horse drawn trams still operate. This very popular holiday is not to be missed!
The 3 star Empress Hotel is ideally located overlooking Douglas Bay, there is a large conservatory which offers fantastic panoramic views. Hotel facilities include a gym, sauna and steam room for guests to use. All of the en-suite bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities with some of the rooms offering sea views. There is a lift to all floors.
Thursday Our door to door service takes you from your home to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Heysham. We board the afternoon ferry to Douglas arriving at our seafront hotel, the Empress, early evening in time for dinner.
Friday A relaxing morning in Douglas before we join the railway to visit Laxey, home of ‘Lady Isabella’ the world’s largest working waterwheel and an icon of the Island’s mining history. Later we take a ride on the Snaefell Mountain Railway affording wonderful views from the summit.
Saturday We are joined by a local guide for a full day tour around the island. We visit Ramsey then Bride, final resting place of the great comedian and Manx resident, Norman Wisdom, before spending time in Peel with its small harbour and ancient castle. After time here we make our way to St Johns, home of the ancient Manx parliament. Our return includes the lofty South Barrule road.
Sunday A full day tour to the south of the Island crossing the Fairy Bridge to Castletown, the ancient capital, then the viewpoint at the Calf of Man before time in the popular Edwardian resort Port Erin which is overlooked by Bradda Head. We return to Douglas by the wonderful narrow gauge Isle of Man Railway.
Monday After an early breakfast we board the morning ferry from Douglas to Heysham. With suitable stops we return to our home area and waiting taxis late afternoon.
