Our great tour of Snowdonia in the heart of North Wales features stunning scenery and incredible attractions from Puffins, hidden gardens, Portmeirion and Caernarfon Castle to the country’s longest heritage railway – all in the shadow of Wales’s tallest peaks.
The 3 star Celtic Royal Hotel stands in the centre of Caernarfon, just a short walk from the awesome World Heritage Site that is Caernarfon Castle. Hotel facilities include bar, lounges, split-level restaurant and impressive leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool. All of the en-suite bedrooms have a TV, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities with all being served by a lift.
From your front door to the waiting coach then on through the heart of England to Wales. Our route takes us to Shrewsbury for a lunch stop then on through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen arriving late afternoon at the Celtic Royal Hotel. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served on arrival.
This morning we visit Caernarfon Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before enjoying a scenic drive to Betws y Coed, North Wales’ most popular inland resort. We enjoy time at leisure for lunch here before visiting the nearby Trefriw Woollen Mills where traditional woollen products are made using machines that are over 50 years old. We continue through Snowdonia National Park and return to Caernarfon.
This morning we travel over the Menai Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey and visit one of North Wales’ best kept secrets, the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant. We enjoy exploring the restored gardens at leisure before driving on to nearby Beaumaris with its medieval castle, lovely beach and Victorian pier. In the afternoon we relax on a leisurely 80 minute return boat cruise to Puffin Island
Today we enjoy a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK’s longest heritage railway. Our 2 hour one way journey runs for 25 miles from Caernarfon, past the foot of Snowdon and the picture postcard village of Beddgelert, through the stunning Aberglaslyn Pass, to our destination of Porthmadog. On arrival, we re-join our coach and travel to the nearby unique village of Portmeirion, exploring the lovely terraced gardens, village and shops.
Our homeward journey takes us along Colwyn Bay and past historic Chester to arrive in our home area late afternoon.
