Spoil yourself on our new tour to Scarborough one of Britain’s premier coastal resorts. We include a train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a coastal drive and time in historic York itself.
Crown Spa Hotel The 4 star Crown Hotel, the finest hotel in Scarborough, is the obvious choice for our ‘taste of luxury’ tour. The hotel enjoys a commanding position above Scarborough’s South Beach, yet is just a short walk from the beach and the town centre. Bedrooms are all en suite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel hosts its own swimming pool and modern fitness centre. Guests can relax in the sauna, spa bath or steam room, or try a range of indulgent treatments in the elegant spa salon. There is a lift to all floors
From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach, we make our way north over the Humber Bridge to Hull, here we have a lunch stop before we re-join the coach and take the scenic road through the Yorkshire Wolds to arrive at the Crown Spa Hotel, Scarborough with time to settle in and relax before dinner.
A free day to discover the varied attractions of Scarborough. Enjoy the delightful promenade in the attractive Belvedere Gardens, take a short walk across the spa footbridge to the town centre and shops, or the cliff lift down to the golden beaches of the South Bay and the little harbour.
Today we have a very interesting excursion. Leaving Scarborough we head south to the genteel resort of Filey for a short stay before continuing to the lofty viewpoint of Flamborough Head. Our return includes a visit to the fascinating Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum which hosts a magnificent working collection of Vintage Cars, Steam Engines, and Vintage Fairground Rides.
This morning we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port which was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the harbour stands the 7th Century Whitby Abbey, the inspirations for Bram Stocker’s Dracula. We have time to wander around the narrow streets and busy harbour side and to obtain lunch before we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway service taking us over the scenic North Yorkshire Moors through Grosmont and Gothland to Pickering where we re-join the coach for the drive back to the hotel.
This morning we leave for a day in the ancient and historic City of York. In York there are lots of things to see and do – The National Railway Museum, The Jorvik Centre, The Castle Museum, stroll around the City Walls, wander around the excellent shops, explore the many quaint little alleyways, and, of course, no visit to York is complete without seeing magnificent York Minster. Late afternoon we return to our home areas.
