Every summer the historic town of Tewkesbury commemorates the War of the Roses Battle that took place in 1471 with its own festival that sees enthusiasts, re-enactors and traders from all over Europe gather in the town. Tewkesbury is taken back in time with re-enactments, minstrels, jugglers and themed crafts folk showing their skills and products throughout the day. Our 4 day tour includes a superb hotel, visit to Gloucester Quays and of course the Festival.

Blunsdon House Hotel - 4 Star

The 4 star Blunsdon House Hotel is a Fenn favourite, set in 30 acres of beautiful Wiltshire countryside. This hotel has in indoor swimming pool and a 9 hole golf course and the back overlooks the stunning Cotswolds. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel is served by a lift. Please note that rooms with walk-in showers (Pavillion rooms) are subject to a supplement.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive south west to the Cotswolds. We travel by way of Moreton in Marsh and Winchcombe to spend time for lunch and sightseeing in the glorious floral and spa town of Cheltenham. We arrive at Blunsdon House Hotel late afternoon. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served on arrival.

Day 2

This morning we head to Tewkesbury for its famous Medieval Festival. Tewkesbury Medieval Festival is widely regarded as the biggest free Medieval gathering in Europe with over 2000 re-enactors and traders. Medieval minstrels, jugglers, stilt walkers, friendly dragons, and bears wander around the festival site and there is a varied programme of events. The key experiences of the day will be near the Battlefield, where a re-enactment of the original battle, alongside other interesting events, will be taking place.

Day 3

Our day takes through the Southern Cotswolds to Minchampton and picturesque Painswick before spending time in historic Gloucester. Visit the modern Quays shopping centre or discover the fascinating historic docks where Victorian warehouses a working dry dock and a Mariners Chapel bear witness to the importance of Britain’s most inland port. Our return to the hotel is via ‘Royal’ Tetbury and Malmesbury.

Day 4

A leisurely breakfast before we depart the hotel for the journey home. We return to our home area mid afternoon.
