Shetland Hotel Lerwick - 3 Star

The Shetland Hotel is situated close to the ferry terminal with commanding views overlooking the bay and a short walk from the town centre. Modern rooms with en suite bathrooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and tea and coffee making facilities and some have bay views. There is a restaurant, with beautiful views, a lounge bar and a lift.

Northlink Ferries -

All of the Northlink fleet are equipped with bars - serving a good selection of draught beers, continental lagers, wines and spirits along with teas, coffees and tasty snacks. A pleasant restaurant and a shop offering a wide range of products, including books, magazines, maps and guide books, travel requisites, and a deli counter featuring local produce. Each of the 2 berth cabins are furnished with en-suite shower and toilet, hairdryer and telephone. The ship is served by a lift.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Our door to door service takes you the waiting luxury Club Class coach for the journey north via Scotch Corner, Gretna Green and Perthshire. We arrive at our overnight 3 star hotel in Perthshire, late afternoon, tea/coffees are served whilst the cases are taken to our rooms.


Day 2

A leisurely breakfast before we continue our tour north through glorious Scottish scenery and over the Spittal of Glenshee to Royal Deeside then follow the course of the river to the Granite City, Aberdeen. Here we board the Northlink overnight sailing to Lerwick with dinner served on board.


Day 3

We arrive in Lerwick this morning, whilst enjoying a leisurely breakfast. Today we have a full day guided tour of the Northern Isles, Yell and Unst. We use short ferry crossings to both islands. During our tour we visit Old Haa Museum, Muckle Flugga, the most northerly tip of the UK and Skidbladner a replica Viking Long Ship, enjoy a light lunch and see beautiful beaches. We check into the Shetland Hotel late afternoon.


Day 4

Our tour today is of the South & West Mainland stopping at St Ninians, a stunning beach, Europe’s largest and most complex archaeological sites, Viking Jarlsof, the Croft House Museum and view magnificent cliff scenery and seabird colonies. After an included lunch we have a photo stop with Shetland Ponies in the Tingwall Valley before arriving in Scalloway, former capital of the Shetlands, with its 15th cent castle and wealth of local island exhibitions, history and folklore.


Day 5

To Voe & Brae, a spectacular series of sea stacks then visit the Tangwick Haa Museum. After lunch we tour the Shetland Jewellery Nordic Workshop, a scenic drive via Wormdale Viewpoint back to Lerwick allows us free time in the port before boarding the Northlink ferry for our overnight sailing to Aberdeen. Once again dinner is served on board this evening.


Day 6

After breakfast we disembark in Aberdeen and take the coastal road passing sandy St Cyrus Beach, Arbroath, famous for its ‘Smokies, then cross the mighty River Tay to the Kingdom of Fife with a stop at the famed golf and university town of St Andrews. More coastal delights, the fishing villages of Crail and St Monans before reaching our overnight hotel in Dunfermline arriving with plenty of time to settle in well before dinner.


Day 7

Homeward bound, we use the new Forth Bridge to reach Edinburgh then on through the border country before making a lunch stop in Jedburgh. Into England and down the east coast we return to our home area early evening.

Insurance Premiums are renewed from 1st January 2022. If you are making a booking after this date the rate will be revised from that shown in our brochure.
