Our new tour offers the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of Hampshire and its quaint towns. We include visits to Winchester, maritime Portsmouth, the outstanding New Forest, colourful Exbury Gardens and a journey on a vintage railway, the New Forest & Watercress Line.
This delightful hotel is located within 54 acres of parkland, only 12 miles from Winchester. Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and gym. All bedrooms are en-suite and have a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors.
From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the leisurely drive south to Hampshire and the 4 star Norton Park Hotel. On our arrival, we will be greeted with tea/coffee and then time to settle in well before this evening’s dinner.
This morning we begin with time in the historic town of Winchester. Here we can visit the medieval Cathedral, explore its high street or perhaps the many museums in the town. This afternoon we visit Georgian Alresford, home of Hampshire’s historical watercress industry to join the Mid Hants Railway for a one way journey on the Watercress Line to Alton. Later we return to the hotel.
This morning we head to the town of Lyndhurst, known as the capital of The New Forest since the times of William the Conqueror. Lyndhurst offers a wide range of shops, cosy tea rooms, old world pubs and cafes. Later, we travel to the market town of Lymington, in the south of the New Forest. Here we have a chance to enjoy lunch and spend some time exploring at our own pace. In the afternoon, we continue through the stunning New Forest, arriving at Exbury Gardens, a spectacular 200-acre woodland garden famous for the Rothschild collection of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias.
Our day begins with a ride through the South Downs, reaching the market-town of Petersfield where we can enjoy a stop in the heart of the National Park. The town has a variety of local shops, as well as a museum, Psychic Garden and art gallery. Today is also market day. Afterwards, we head to the coast where the rest of the day is yours in the Maritime City of Portsmouth, perhaps visit the Historic Dockyard, home of ‘Victory’ and ‘Mary Rose’, or visit the lovely Cathedral.
After breakfast we leave our hotel for the leisurely drive north to arrive in our home area mid afternoon
