From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for our journey north. We spend time in delightful Ashbourne at the foot of Dove Dale then on to our luxury holiday home for the next 4 nights. We have tea & coffee then ample time to settle in before dinner this evening.
We start the day with a scenic journey through the north of the Peak District, passing through Glossop before heading along snake-pass, arguably one of the most scenic routes in England. This takes us to the Ladybower Reservoir before we head towards Castleton where we stop for time to explore and relax – this is also the ideal place to enjoy lunch. This afternoon takes us to the fantastic Lyme Park and its House & Gardens, the backdrop for some of the filming of 'Pride and Prejudice'. Step back in time to the Regency era - a time which saw great rejuvenation for Lyme. Enjoy lavish interiors, try out the billiards table in the Long Gallery or read a book in the library.
Our first stop this morning is the Astbury Meadow Garden Centre where we can have a look around at the plants, homewares or just enjoy a hot drink in the café. Later, we visit the World of Wedgwood Visitor Centre where you will enjoy Afternoon Tea for lunch! Afterwards, you have time to guide yourself through the museum and factory to see craftsmen at work in Britain’s greatest luxury ceramics company, utilising techniques honed over 250 years at Barlaston.
Today we travel through the heart of the Peak District, passing by the quaint villages of Sparrowpit, Tideswell and Baslow, arriving at the market town of Bakewell where you will be able to obtain lunch. Bakewell is the home to the famous Bakewell Tart or Pudding. Here you can enjoy a slice of the original!. Later, we travel to Buxton, a spa town with delightful gardens and magnificent historic buildings. Feel free to explore the spa town and maybe enjoy refreshments and retail therapy.
After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home. We stop at Lichfield for lunch before continuing to our home areas mid-afternoon, after an enjoyable luxury break.
