Our super Scottish Grand Tour provides the ultimate Scottish experience and the very best that the Scottish mainland has to offer, from wonderful Edinburgh to the mystical banks of Loch Ness, along with the stunning scenery of the Highlands and the Cairngorms!
Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach journey north from our home area via Scotch Corner, Gretna Green and Glasgow to reach our hotel late afternoon. A welcome drinks reception precedes dinner this evening which is followed by entertainment.
We travel to the capital city of Scotland today to spend time at leisure exploring its many attractions, such as magnificent Edinburgh Castle perched atop an extinct volcano, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, a favourite residence of the monarchy, the Scotch Whisky Experience on the Royal Mile close to the castle and the Royal Yacht Britannia moored in Leith Docks.
This morning we set off north via Loch Lomond to Fort William, in the shadow of magnificent Ben Nevis. We spend time in this famous town before continuing on our highland adventure, heading to the mystical shores of Loch Ness, home of the fabled monster Nessie. We stop at the Loch Ness Exhibition near Urquhart Castle for a comfort break and photos before continuing our journey northwards through the spectacular scenery of Wester Ross to our highland home for the next 3 nights, Ullapool.
We enjoy a day at leisure in the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, gateway to the Northern Highlands, nestled on the shores of Loch Broom. The natural beauty of this area has to be seen to be believed and the attractions in this quaint village include the Ullapool museum or one of the many boat trips offering tours around the surrounding waters (individual bookings in advance advised).
A full day of dramatic Wester Ross scenery as we travel via the waterfall at Corrieshalloch Gorge then skirt the shores of lovely Loch Maree, stopping for photos, to the pretty harbour village of Gairloch, we visit Inverewe Gardens where we include a light lunch before time to explore this wonderful collection of exotic plants (despite being further north than Moscow)! The Walled Garden features specimens from around the world and if lucky, you may spot some of the wildlife - otters, pine martens, seals and red deer are all local residents. Our return is by way of spectacular Gruinard Bay and Little Loch Broom to Ullapool.
Today, we depart Ullapool and head south again making our first stop at the wonderful Falls of Shin and Visitor Centre, one of the best known sights in the area. Although not particularly high the falls have great power and salmon can often be seen attempting to leap them in the summer. We then move south to Inverness, where we spend some time at leisure exploring before continuing our journey through the Cairngorms National Park to our home for the next two nights, picturesque Pitlochry.
We enjoy our final day in splendid Perthshire with a morning visit to the Black Watch Castle & Museum in Perth, where we enjoy a 30 minute tour and coffee. Located on one of Perthís most beautiful parks, the North Inch, the museum castle dates back to the 1600s and tells the story of Scotlandís elite military regiment. We have free time for lunch here or in Perth city, before we head to magnificent Scone Palace, once the crowning place of the kings of Scotland, which we explore at leisure.
We return through Strathclyde making a stop at the border town of Gretna Green before crossing the Pennines to make a lunch stop in historic Richmond. This afternoon we use the A1 to return to our home area and waiting taxis, after a memorable holiday enjoying the best of Scotlandís finest scenery.
