Your Itinerary:
Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north through North Yorkshire before crossing the border for our 3 star overnight hotel the Holiday Inn Dumfries in the Scottish Borders.
Superb Scottish scenery as we head north, beside bonny Loch Lomond then over Rannoch Moor to tragic Glen Coe. We spend time in Fort William before driving along the Great Glen and beside Loch Ness to reach our holiday hotel, the Palace, in Inverness in time for afternoon tea. This evening a welcome reception precedes dinner with wine, Scottish entertainment and a complimentary bar from 7 – 10pm.
Collecting our packed lunches we set off for a drive to Wester Ross, an area containing some of Scotland’s most dramatic and beautiful scenery. We cross the Black Isle, pass lofty Ben Wyvis and Loch Glascarnoch to the waterfall at Corrieshalloch Gorge. We spend time in the fishing port and resort of Ullapool set between the mountains and sea, at the head of Loch Broom. A cream tea awaits us at the hotel, then time to relax before another fine dinner and evening of Scottish entertainment.
Today is spent at leisure in Inverness, explore the ‘Capital of the Highlands’ before an included soup lunch and afternoon cream tea in the hotel.
Two excursions today. First, we visit Loch Ness and board a cruise boat for a sightseeing cruise on the Loch, keep an eye out for the illusive ‘Nessie’ as we view Urquhart Castle from the water. We return to the hotel for lunch then make an afternoon visit to the emotive battlefield and visitor centre of Culloden. Later we enjoy our final afternoon tea and our final night dinner and entertainment.
Our drive south takes us through the rugged Grampian Mountains and Glen Garry to Pitlochry where we make a stop then through the lush farmlands of Perthshire to historic Stirling, Gateway to the Highlands. We drive to the castle then have time for lunch in the lower town. The afternoon sees us pass Glasgow and return to our overnight hotel, in Dumfries.
We make a visit to the famous ‘Smithy’ in Gretna Green, then over the border and south through England to historic Richmond where we make a stop for lunch. This afternoon we return to our home area and waiting taxis arriving early evening at the end of a memorable Scottish adventure.
