Overview

A super new holiday to add to our Irish selection! We take you to Sligo in County Sligo, boasting a stunning, uninterrupted and wild coast and often known as Yeats Country owing to how much it inspired his poetry; Sligo is a slice of heaven along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. Sitting astride the Garavogue River as it pours into the Atlantic, Sligo Town has a character of its own and is a lively base from where to explore this beautifully dramatic part of Ireland. We feature a walking tour of stunning Rosses Point, a scenic Wild Atlantic Way drive and a River Shannon Cruise along with some traditional visits including an authentic distillery and a working sheep farm. PLEASE NOTE: It is crucial that all passengers have a reasonable amount of mobility to enable full enjoyment of the excursions.

Set in beautiful grounds overlooked by the Benbulben Mountain and situated a wee walk from the town centre, each of the ensuite bedrooms is bright and modern and equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The stylish Sinergie Restaurant prepares tasty dishes using locally sourced produce, while Bulbens Bar & Bistro offer a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seating. The hotel benefits from an indoor swimming pool and a lift serves all floors.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Our door to door service takes you from your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the cross country drive to Holyhead and the ferry crossing to Dublin. Enjoy the facilities of Stena Line ferry during the crossing. Disembarking in Ireland we drive the short distance to our overnight hotel, the Aspect Hotel Park West, with time to relax before dinner.


Day 2

Today’s drive takes us across the heart of Ireland. We travel by way of Kinnegad to make a stop in Athlone, on the River Shannon and claiming to be the very centre of Ireland. Then on by Roscommon and Castlerea to reach our holiday hotel, the Clayton, in Sligo.


Day 3

A leisurely breakfast before we make our way to the pretty, bustling town of Carrick on Shannon to board a pleasure cruiser for a relaxing 1 hour cruise on the mighty River Shannon complete with commentary and tea/coffee & scones served on board. Upon returning to dry-land we enjoy free time for lunch in the pretty town. Early afternoon we head to Drumshanbo to visit The Shed Distillery, home of the aptly named ‘Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin’ and ‘Drunshanbo Single Pot Irish Whiskey’. We take a guided tour which concludes with tastings before wobbling back to the coach and returning to our hotel.


Day 4

We spend today at leisure in Sligo where we can follow in the footsteps of Yeats and visit the sights and scenes that inspired him. In addition to a host of cafes, bars & restaurants and shops, attractions include the Sligo County Museum & Art Gallery, Yeats Society Memorial Building, Sligo Abbey and The Model – home of the Niland Collection Arts Centre & Gallery.


Day 5

This morning we make our way to the picturesque Rosses Point and embark on a fascinating walking tour, discovering the history of the area’s coastal heritage while admiring the beautiful setting. More stunning scenery awaits as we reboard the coach and enjoy a delightful drive along parts of the Wild Atlantic Way in County Sligo en route to Grange and the Feeney family farm, home to the Atlantic Sheepdogs Experience. Here we see some of the world's smartest sheepdogs in action with a demonstration by champion sheepdog handler, Martin. We return to Sligo and our hotel with time to relax before our final dinner here.


Day 6

We bid farewell to our hosts in Sligo and make the journey back to Dublin where we have time at leisure in the heart of the city before checking into our overnight hotel, the Aspect Park West.


Day 7

An early breakfast to enable us to catch the morning ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. Now across North Wales and the Midlands to return to our home area and waiting taxis early evening.
