Sunday From your front door to the waiting ‘Club Class’ coach for the drive north through scenic North Yorkshire to our overnight hotel close to the Scottish border.
Monday From our overnight hotel we cross the Scottish border and make a stop in the famous weaving town of Moffat, set in the Lowther Hills. We continue by way of Stirling and the glorious Trossachs to Crianlarich then over the Pass of Brander beside Loch Awe to reach our holiday hotel for a welcoming tea and coffee served whilst the luggage is taken to our rooms.
Tuesday Today is a day at leisure to explore our resort of Oban. Visit McCaigs Folly that dominates the port and discover the busy centre and harbour.
Wednesday Today we travel by ferry to the magical Isle of Mull. We travel across the island past Duart Castle to the most westerly point, Fionnphort. Here we board the short ferry on foot to the tiny, enchanting Isle of Iona. Home to the imposing Iona Abbey, this historic and beautiful island is a renowned place of pilgrimage, steeped in history as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. Later we make our way back to the ferry and Oban.
Thursday A scenic drive along the shoreline of the loch takes us to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. North of the town are the Nevis Mountain Range and the cable car ride up Aonach Mor. At the top there are tremendous views of Glencoe, Ben Nevis, and on a clear day the Isle of Skye.
Friday This morning we bid farewell to Oban and begin the journey south. We take the wonderful winding road to Lochgilphead with views of sea, beautiful lochs and magnificent mountains at every turn. Our road continues along the shore of mighty Loch Fyne to spend time in Inverary, home of the Clan Campbell. This afternoon we pass Loch Lomond to Glasgow then through broad Strathclyde to the borders and our overnight hotel arriving well in time for dinner.
Saturday Homeward bound over the high Pennines to the Great North road for our return to our home area and waiting taxis.
