Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to the city of Derby; we travel via Melton Mowbray with time to visit the busy Farmers Market then on to Nottingham to have time in the busy city centre the perfect place for lunch and a spot of Christmas shopping! We arrive at our hotel, the 4 star Mickleover Court, late afternoon with plenty of time to settle in before dinner this evening.

Day 2

Saturday A leisurely breakfast before we head south to the emotive National Memorial Arboretum. The Arboretum is an evolving, maturing woodland landscape featuring 30,000 trees and a vast collection of memorials, over 300. The 150-acre site is a living, growing tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country. Upon arrival we have time to explore at leisure before meeting for a welcome talk in the Millennium Chapel to learn more about the history of the Arboretum. Later following a land train tour of the grounds we enjoy a delicious afternoon tea which includes a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches, an assortment of pastries, cakes and biscuits, along with a choice of tea or coffee. We return to the hotel late afternoon.

Day 3

Sunday This morning we spend time in historic Bakewell, with its original pudding shops and medieval 5-arched bridge over the river Wye. Later we journey to wonderful Chatsworth House, referred to as the ‘Greatest Private Palace in England’. Home to the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire, the house itself is home to grand rooms filled with examples of superb craftsmanship and treasures collected over 5 centuries and is beautifully decorated ready for Christmas, in the grounds, the fantastic Christmas market returns with more than 100 stalls selling seasonal gifts and goodies. Late afternoon we travel home to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
