A brand new Christmas tour for 2017 to Scarborough, a destination that has always proven popular. Scarborough enjoys an unrivalled position as one of Britain’s premier coastal resorts yet also lies tantalisingly close to North Yorkshire’s rugged National Park. Our festive break is filled with entertainment and has a full excursion programme, including visiting the historic Port of Whitby, Filey and Bridlington.
The 3 Star Esplanade Hotel enjoys a commanding position on Scarborough’s South Cliff, yet is just a short walk from the beach, the Spa and the town centre. Bedrooms are all ensuite with tea and coffee making facilities. There is a lift to all floors and a full festive entertainment programme is provided.
Saturday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach, we make our way north over the Humber Bridge to Hull, here we have a lunch stop with time to take a look around the newly restored quayside area before we re-join the coach and take the coastal road to arrive at the Esplanade Hotel, Scarborough in time to settle in and relax before dinner which will be followed by entertainment.
Sunday – Christmas Eve This morning we enjoy a visit to the harbour town of Whitby, with its quayside and little streets displaying their unique character and picturesque charm beneath the magnificent 7th century Abbey, which provided the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s novel ‘Dracula’. After plenty of time to explore we return back to the hotel to get ready for tonight’s dinner, dancing and Christmas Eve Cabaret. For those wishing to attend Midnight Mass details of local church services will be available.
Monday – Christmas Day MERRY CHRISTMAS! After a full Yorkshire breakfast there is time at leisure, take a brisk walk along the sea front, visit a local service or join in the fun at the hotel with an Armchair competition and guess the weight of the Christmas cake. Christmas Day lunch will be served in the traditional manner then relax and listen to the Queen’s Speech, be sure to make room for tea and scones. This evening the Chef will present his traditional Christmas buffet then saddle up for a fun packed evening at the races.
Tuesday – Boxing Day This morning we take a leisurely drive along the coast, through genteel Filey, to Bridlington, where we have a look around the town and harbour, and maybe enjoy a stroll along the promenade. We return to Scarborough in time for a festive Boxing Day lunch, and then we’re off to the theatre for a performance of Jack & the Beanstalk.
Wednesday After breakfast we head for home making a stop in the magnificent city of York. A wealth of attractions await us including the magnificent Minster, fascinating museums and the famous Shambles. We return to our home area at teatime.
