Saturday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to the Midlands. We travel by way of the impressive Rutland Water and Melton Mowbray with time to visit the busy Farmers Market. Now on to Derby with time at leisure before reaching our hotel, the 4 star Mickleover Court. Upon arrival afternoon tea is served whilst luggage is taken care of. Dinner this evening is followed by live entertainment.
Sunday – New Year’s Eve A morning drive to the Southern Peak we travel to Ashbourne and Leek then along lofty Axe Edge to spend time in the attractive spa town of Buxton. Our return is by way of the delightful village of Longnor, featured in the TV series Pride & Prejudice, and lovely Dovedale. We have time to prepare for this evenings sumptuous ‘New Year Gala Dinner’ which will be followed by dancing until late; the New Year is welcomed in stylishly with a glass of bubbly.
Monday – New Year’s Day A later start this morning for our next excursion which takes us to the High Peak visiting pretty Bakewell, home of the famous pudding, then a scenic drive to Monsal Head before spending time in Castleton, the ‘Jewel of the Peak District’ Our return is by way of Matlock Bath and the Derwent Valley recognised by Unesco as the birthplace of the Industrial revolution and silk industry. Our final evening’s dinner is followed by more entertainment.
Tuesday Time to bid a reluctant farewell to our hosts as we begin our homeward journey. Taking a gentle drive to visit the Denby Village and Visitor Centre. This is the largest of the outlet factory shops and here we find a huge range of past and current designs plus comprehensive refreshment facilities. Early afternoon we make our way to our home area arriving late afternoon.
