Itís time for another Re-Union! With last yearís being such fantastic fun (they just get better and better!), we have taken great care to choose a destination which would come up to the mark, so 2018ís destination of choice is popular Bournemouth, a loved seaside resort. It is popular all year round with holidaymakers and is a perfect location for our reunion.
The 4 star Hallmark Carlton Hotel in Bournemouth is known as one of the finest hotels in the area. With its grand charm and richly decorated reception areas and lounges, you can relax in style and comfort. The hotel offers great facilities including sea view lounge, AA rosette award winning restaurant, Waves Health & Leisure Club and complimentary Wi-Fi in all areas of the hotel. All rooms are en-suite and include tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV with Freeview and Wi-Fi. The hotel does have a lift.
Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the journey down to Bournemouth, to arrive at the Hallmark Carlton Hotel mid-afternoon. On arrival tea/coffee and biscuits will be served. This evening listen to the pianist as you enjoy your meal.
Saturday A leisurely breakfast then we join the coach for a relaxing drive along the South Coast, first to Southampton then on to the historic naval city of Portsmouth. The Birthplace of Charles Dickens, Portsmouth has much to offer. The historic Dockyard is home to centuries of naval history, exhibits include the Mary Rose and of course HMS Victory, Nelsonís flagship. Another attraction is the Overlord tapestry depicting the 1944 invasion of Europe. A more recent attraction is the Spinnaker Tower to which we include admission. Take the high speed lift to the View Deck at 100 metres for unrivalled views of the South Coast. Later we return to Bournemouth where we listen to the pianist during dinner, followed by live entertainment.
Sunday After another fine breakfast we set off for a pleasant morning drive into the New Forest, an enchanting expanse of ancient trees, heathland and woodland wildlife. We visit Lyndhurst and enjoy brandy coffees on board the coach then pass Beaulieu before viewing the Isle of Wight as we take the coastal road back to Bournemouth. We return to the hotel in the afternoon for cream tea followed by a quiz, fun and games with great prizes up for grabs. Tonight we have a 7 course Gala Dinner accompanied by a pianist and followed by live musical entertainment.
Monday We depart mid-morning for the leisurely journey back to our home area. We drive to Salisbury then on to view Stonehenge before joining the route of our outward journey at Oxford. From here we continue our journey home, saying farewell to some friends, old and new, and looking forward to meeting again next year at this special event.
