The Scottish Snowdrop Festival takes place every year with many of the castles and great houses of Perthshire participating. Our itinerary on this great value break is designed to show the best of the superb scenery including beautiful snowdrop gardens and offers visits to some of the castles and houses that have been so prominent in Scottish history and of course we include a ‘Wee Dram’.
This traditionally styled Scottish 3 star hotel is centrally situated in the delightful town of Blairgowrie. All the en-suite bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have satellite TV, tea & coffee making facilities and telephone and free Wi-Fi. The Angus is noted for its good food and first class leisure complex with swimming pool, spa bath and sauna. The spacious ballroom will be used for our entertainment programme. A lift serves all floors.
Sunday Our door to door service takes you to the luxury club class coach for the journey north via Scotch Corner, Gretna Green and Stirling to reach Perthshire and our hotel late afternoon. There will be a welcome reception this evening followed by dinner and a prize quiz.
Monday Superb Scottish scenery as we travel through to the Pass of Killiecrankie then to Blair Castle Gardens, the castle is the last private army in Europe and seat of the Dukes of Athol. We include entrance to the gardens, which have recently been restored to the original 18th century design. Our tour continues as we take in the ‘Queens View’ on Loch Tummel en-route to popular Pitlochry where we include time for lunch and sightseeing. This afternoon tea/coffee and a cream scone awaits us on our return to the hotel. Dinner this evening is followed by a Scottish dance lesson, including the Sword Dance.
Tuesday Grand Highland touring through spectacular scenery. We travel north to Glenshee in the heart of the Grampian Mountains via the ‘Devils Elbow’ then down to Royal Deeside with time in Braemar, before driving round the beautiful Lin of Dee. We visit Crathie Church used by the Royal family when they are in residence at nearby Balmoral.
Wednesday This morning we travel to Cluny House Gardens which overlook the Strathtay Valley, look out for the rare trees and Scottish red squirrels. Later we visit the fair city of Perth on the banks of the River Tay with time to explore and take lunch at leisure. This afternoon we visit the Perthshire Visitor Centre for a Scottish liqueur tasting before returning to the hotel. This evening we enjoy another ‘wee dram’ during a Whisky tasting before our Scottish themed dinner with Ceilidh.
Thursday Leaving Blairgowrie we head south via Perth and the Forth Bridge to visit historic Jedburgh in the glorious borders. Over Carter Bar into England and by motorway to return to our home area early evening.
